Noreen McKee wants to know what Trojans think about street cleaning. She sent a survey to residents and businesses asking whether five-day-a-week sweeping is actually necessary. Carmella called it an overreach.

The parking restrictions requiring vehicles to move between 4 and 6 a.m. have been in place since the 1990s. Carmella did not create them. She inherited them and claims credit for the results. Now a council member is asking residents whether those results are worth the tradeoff on parking. Carmella says that question does not belong to the legislature.
She has built her brand on representing the people of Troy. She is fighting a council member’s effort to find out what the people of Troy actually think.
If the streets are clean and residents love the policy, a survey says so. Carmella knows that. She also knows it might not.
